Financial capitalism threatens the values of civilization, and the differences between rich and poor had never been so great. In the chapter "Mon indignation à propos de la Palastine" Hessel criticized Israeli policies in the occupied territories. He called the Israeli policy as outrageous. The book encourages the reader to non-violent revolt, to which everyone had a reason.
